MONTREAL — A patient who was placed in isolation in Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital showing possible signs of Ebola has tested negative for the disease, the hospital confirmed Saturday.
Karl Weiss, the hospital’s chief of infectious diseases, said the results that had been returned from Winnipeg showed the patient was not infected.
The patient, who had arrived recently from western Africa, had tests taken Friday night after he was admitted to hospital.
“We couldn’t take any chances, we had to put everything in place and had to make sure we had all the measures in place because of the potential consequences of something like this,” Weiss said.
